Moisture content is one of the most critical quality parameters in cocoa production — beans that are too wet (above ~8 %) are prone to Mold growth, fermentation restart, and spoilage in storage, while beans that are too dry can crack, lose weight, and degrade quality. Using a moisture meter helps farmers, processors, dryers, traders, and quality control labs make informed decisions about drying progress, harvest readiness, storage safety, and trading standards.
